Traditional Overnight Camp — a full week of waterfront, activities, chapel, and cabin life for campers ages 6–16
Special Needs Program (SNP) — a fully supportive camp week for adult campers with a wide range of need
Leaders in Training (LIT) — a leadership development program for teens ages 16–18 ready to take on real responsibility and serve younger campers
Family Camp — a weekend experience for the whole family, with programming for all ages alongside shared meals and free time
We also host group retreats year-round for churches, nonprofits, corporate and community organizations.
Registration is available online here. Summer weeks fill up — we recommend registering early to secure your spot. Questions about availability or programs? Email us at office@campwightman.org.
Traditional Camp is open to campers ages 6–16. LIT is for teens ages 16–18. SNP serves adults of various ages — contact us to talk through whether camp is a good fit for your camper. Family Camp is open to all ages.
Yes. Chapel, community, and a sense of something bigger are part of the Camp Wightman week. We're a faith-rooted camp, but we don't require faith to belong here.
Every camper is welcome — regardless of background, belief, family situation, or identity. We mean that.
Drop-off and pick-up times vary by program week. You'll receive specific dates and times in your pre-arrival email approximately two weeks before camp. As a general guide:
Drop-off: Sunday afternoon (Traditional, LIT, SNP)
Pick-up: Saturday morning
Family Camp: Arrival and departure times communicated separately
Please do not arrive early — our staff use that time to prepare for your camper's arrival.
All forms must be printed, completed, and signed before you arrive. Do not plan to fill them out at check-in.
Health Forms A–D (Form B can be a physician-signed form dated within the last 3 years)
Individual Plan of Care (required for any special health, behavioral, or dietary needs)
Pick-Up Authorization Form
Camp Store Deposit Form + cash (optional)
All forms are available at here. We cannot accept campers without completed health paperwork.
Yes — but that person must be listed on your Pick-Up Authorization Form before camp begins. We will not release a camper to anyone not on the form, regardless of the circumstances. If something changes, contact us at office@campwightman.org as early as possible.
All medications must be disclosed on your camper's health forms and brought in their original packaging with clear instructions. Our Medical Director will store and administer medications throughout the week. Please do not send medications in your camper's luggage without notifying us first.
We take dietary needs seriously. Disclose all allergies and restrictions on your camper's Individual Plan of Care before camp. Our kitchen staff reviews these before the week begins. For severe allergies, we strongly encourage a conversation with us before arrival — contact office@campwightman.org.
Our Medical Director is available throughout the week, and we have a detailed Emergency Action Plan in place. For minor illness or injury, our team handles care on site. For anything requiring outside medical attention, we will contact you immediately using the phone numbers you provided at registration. In a life-threatening emergency, we call 911 first and you second.
Yes. Camp Wightman operates in compliance with Connecticut state licensing requirements for youth camps and is inspected annually. Our staff complete required training in first aid, waterfront safety, and child protection before the summer season begins.
A full packing list is available here. Key reminders:
Label everything with your camper's name
Bring bedding (sleeping bag or twin sheets + blanket) and a towel
Closed-toe shoes required for most activities
Swimsuit and water shoes for waterfront
Sunscreen and insect repellent
Raingear — camp happens rain or shine
No. Camp Wightman is a phone-free, device-free experience. Campers may not bring cell phones, tablets, or personal electronics to camp.
This is intentional. Disconnecting is part of what makes camp, camp. We encourage campers to leave devices at home — they'll thank you by Friday. If you need to reach your camper in an emergency, call us directly at the camp office.
LIT participants should check with staff about any program-specific exceptions before arrival.
Please leave the following at home:
Cell phones and personal electronics
Valuable jewelry or irreplaceable items
Fireworks, weapons, or anything that could harm others
Alcohol, tobacco, or any controlled substances
Excessive cash (use the camp store deposit instead)
Campers can make purchases at our camp store during the week — snacks, gear, and Camp Wightman merchandise. To set up a store account, bring the Camp Store Deposit Form with a cash deposit on arrival day. Any unused balance is returned at checkout.
Prefer to pay ahead? You can pay by credit card here.
Yes. We have a limited number of campership funds available each summer, and we never want cost to be the reason a camper doesn't come to Camp Wightman.
To request a campership, simply check that box when you register online. Camperships are available up to $200 per camper. Funds are limited, so register early if you need support.
SNP is Camp Wightman's dedicated program for adult campers with a wide range of needs — physical, developmental, behavioral, or medical. Campers participate in the full camp experience with trained staff who provide support throughout the week. Campers need to be independent enough to manage camp with a staff ration of 6:1. We cannot provide 1:1 support/care while at camp.
If you're considering SNP for your camper, we'd love to talk before registration. Contact us at office@campwightman.org.
LIT (Leaders in Training) is a leadership development program for teens ages 16–18. LIT participants take on real responsibility — supporting program staff, mentoring younger campers, and growing as leaders. It's more than a camp week; it's a formative experience for young people ready to step up.
