David and Karen Warfield.

The American Baptist Churches of Connecticut welcomed Karen and David Warfield as the new Ministers of Camping and Conferences in February of 2009. The Executive Committee voted unanimously on Feb. 3, 2009 to call them to this position.

The Warfields are active members of Central Baptist Church in Norwich where David serves as the Director of Music and Karen is the Director of Worship Arts. They began serving at Camp Wightman in September 2008 as Retreat Hosts. Active in the ABCCONN community, both have been involved with the planning committee for the Annual Gathering and both have led workshops at the Discipleship Fair, Spring Fling and the Annual Gathering.

David retired from the Department of Homeland Security in 2005 after serving more than 30 years with the US Government. Karen formerly worked for the US Department of Defense and later worked as Vice-President for the United Way/Labor Food Center for the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.

Karen and David bring a wealth of experience to this position. They both have excellent administrative, management and marketing skills which the search committee believes will bring the camp to the next level in this 21st century.
