I love camp! I grew up attending camp programs and have volunteered here at Camp Wightman as an adult! I'd love the opportunity to introduce your family to Wightman. So, why choose Camp Wightman? Moms and Dads are choosing CW for many reasons. Some of those reasons are:
Our Wonderful Location: Lake, forest, natural beauty, 250+ acres and 2 islands to explore!

Classic Camp: Where a kid can watch a dragonfly, paddle a kayak, and have a conversation with a friend without needing anything that rings, hums, or makes an electronic connection.

Unique activities: “Regular” activities - like canoeing, archery, crafts...plus “something different” activities like - GaGa, Cooking, Slime Time, Rugby...the list goes on and on!

Small Size: We are full to capacity with about 80-100 campers per session. We get to know our campers, and we keep it friendly.

Staff with Heart: Staff are chosen for maturity, integrity, skills, and patience, and for their desire to be exemplars of the Christian community and to share in the spirit of camp. They participate in a 10-day orientation prior to the season. Our staff/volunteer selection process is demanding and includes a written application, personal interview, and background/reference checks.

True Christian Community: We create a community of shared fun, shared effort, shared meals, and shared worship. People belong and are accepted for who they are.

Solid Foundation for a Lifetime: Camp Wightman equips kids for success. We build self-esteem with learning, belonging, and faith development. Campers just don't hear about something, they do it. Everything at camp is hands on, feet on, and heads up!

The Ultimate Reason is to Know Christ: An essential part of camp is spiritual growth. Campers come from many denominations or may have no church affiliation. We use music, worship, drama, Bible exploration, and prayer to touch their hearts. Camp is a mystical experience...sitting around a campfire, gazing at starry skies, exploring trails, floating in the lake, and bonding with friends. Here campers can safely extend love and acceptance to others, and listen and respond to God’s call.
I believe in the power of the Christian camp experience for children and teens. I grew up attending camp. I have a passion for outdoor ministry. I know camp changes lives because it happened to me and because I have seen over and over again the positive impact that even a week of camp can have on the life of a child.

I'll be involved in every aspect of the Camp Wightman summer program and available to campers and staff daily. Your child’s safety, development, and well-being are of utmost importance to me and I'll take a special interest in being sure our programs are run in a safe manner while allowing for managed risk-taking and the most fun possible! I hope to meet you this summer. Please call us today at 860.376.2179 to find out more about a Summer Like No Other for your child or teen!
