Summer Camp Refund Policy

A. Refunds to families

  1. Cancellation prior to the beginning of a camp program
    • A refund of camp registration fees paid by the family will be provided to the family, less an administrative charge of $35.
  2. Camper is sent home due to sickness
    • A refund of camp registration fees paid by the family prorated by the number of days the camper spent at camp will be provided, less an administrative charge of $35.
  3. Camper goes home due to homesickness
    • No refund will be provided. Parents are encouraged to prepare their camper for the experience of camp. In addition camp staff will work closely with a homesick camper and the parents in an effort to make the experience of camp a positive one.
  4. Camper chooses to go home prior to the end of camp or is sent home due to misbehavior
    • No refund will be provided.

B. Refunds to churches

Refunds to churches for campership funds paid to Camp Wightman by a church on behalf of a specific camper will be refunded if:

  1. A camper cancels prior to the beginning of a camp program
    • A refund of camp registration fees paid by the church will be provided to the church. Administrative charges will be applied to the camper’s family unless the only payments have been made by the church. Churches are encouraged to make sure that camper families take some responsibility for their participation at camp.
  2. Camper is sent home due to sickness
    • A refund of camp registration fees paid by the church prorated by the number of days the camper spent at camp will be provided.
  3. Camper goes home due to homesickness
    • No refund will be provided.
  4. Camper chooses to go home prior to the end of camp or is sent home due to misbehavior
    • No refund will be provided.

Additionally, refunds will be provided to churches if an overpayment of campership funds is made.

In some cases parents may not be aware that their church is making a payment or how much that payment is and they may, therefore, overpay the registration. If a church has a policy of providing a specific amount to each camper (i.e. ½ of registration fees), overpayments for specific campers will be provided to either the parents or the church in order to bring the payments in line with the church’s policy.
